I started training for these pictures on October 10th,
2000. The photos were taken on Saturday Morning, December 23rd,
2000. The basic workouts were as follows:
Tuesdays were the very hard training day. I trained each bodypart
very hard once every 2 weeks. I performed, at different times
1 set to failure with some variables at times: Deadlifts off
the rack, Naut pullovers, pulldowns, rows, incline press, Nautilus
flye, Naut chest press, Naut lateral raise, Naut overhead press,
pressdown, BBell curl, squat, leg press, Naut leg curl, leg extension,
calf raises, ab crunch machine and hip curl. TUL would vary for
fast twitch (40-70 secs) to moderate twitch (60-90 secs). On
Fridays I did a 'pumping session' in a circuit that included
the bodyparts I would train on the following Tuesday. Nothing
was even close to failure on those days. And also plenty of posing.
The photos were taken with no tan, no oil and only a slight pump
from some knee bends, push-ups and the posing itself.
Wednesdays were spent on the Schwinn AirDyne (SA) for 30 minutes.
The intensity would vary as I rode; #8 being the highest level
to sustain for 1 minute at a time. Thursdays I would again get
on the SA for 30 minutes but at a much lower intensity and vary
it slightly. Saturdays were another hard day on the SA. Sundays
were at the lower intensity on the SA. Monday I rested!
The diet was the fun part. Here it is in a nutshell:
5:30 A.M. 5 Egg whites, 1 cup (uncooked) Oatmeal with an apple
in it
8:30 A.M. 1 apple (on heavy training day I also had some chicken
breast w/brown rice)
(10:30 A.M. After training on Heavy training day only--2 bananas,
2 strawberries, 1 scoop protein powder with water)
11:30 A.M. 1 grapefruit, 2 slices whole grain bread or brown
rice, 1 can tuna or 1 chicken breast with green salad with olive
oil & vinegar (always had the oil)
3:00 P.M. 1 apple, 2 slices whole grain bread, 1 cup non-fat
milk
7:30 P.M. 1 chicken breast, brown rice, green salad with oil
& vinegar, broccoli
9:00 P.M. 1 cup puffed wheat cereal with strawberries, blueberries
and blackberries, 1 cup non-fat milk
During Thanksgiving week I did eat some raw mixed nuts with no
salt and no added oil.

age 40!)
